Rigibore

Queen's Award Presented at Rigibore

Today, Rigibore was presented with a beautiful crystal bowl and scroll in recognition of the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade which it won this year and which was announced on the Queen's birthday April 21st.

The presentation was made by Colonel Edward Bolitho, the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall who was accompanied by Sir John Banham. The Lord Lieutenant is the Queen's personal representative in the county and it was a great honour to welcome Colonel Bolitho to Rigibore. The scroll details the achievement of the award and is signed by both the Queen and the British Prime Minister, David Cameron.

After the presentation, Roger Bassett, Chairman and Founder of Rigibore Ltd accompanied the Lord Lieutenant on a tour of the company's main production and engineering site and it's newly established R & D facility. Greg Cocks, Engineering Director accompanied Sir John Banham and Jenny Hosen from the Lord Lieutenant's office on a tour of the facility. Sir John Banham is a leading British business figure and was Director General of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) from 1987-1992 and has been Chairman of many large companies including Tarmac, Whitbread Breweries and Johnson Mathey.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise is an awards programme for British businesses and other organisations who excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development. They are the highest official UK awards for British businesses. The scheme was established at the Queen's Award to Industry by a royal warrant of 30th November 1965. To be awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade, a company must show a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over three consecutive 12-month periods, to a level which is outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation. Awards are made on the advice of the Prime Minister after examination of applications by an Advisory Committee composed of leading individuals from industry, commerce, trade unions and government.

There is an official reception at Buckingham Palace later this month when two representatives from each of the winning companies are presented to Her Majesty the Queen.
